Cripple Wall

In a raised foundation house, cripple walls are built to support the weight of the house and provide a crawl space. These cripple walls are normally built from wood and provide the main layer that supports the weight of the house.

Cripple walls that are not braced properly to the foundation horizontally and vertically can collapse in case of an earthquake.
